Ethical Approval Policy

Bulletin of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Social Work adheres to the national legislation of Ukraine and international ethical standards governing the conduct of scientific research.

All studies submitted for publication in the journal that involve human participants (including surveys, interviews, observations, and experiments), animals or their biological materials, as well as personal, sensitive, or confidential data, must comply with the applicable legislation of Ukraine, particularly in the areas of personal data protection, bioethics, and human rights.

If a manuscript includes results of research involving human participants or animals, the editorial office requires authors to provide copies of approvals issued by relevant ethics committees (bioethics committees). Such approvals must be officially documented (certificates, extracts from meeting minutes, official statements), registered, and signed by authorized persons (e.g., a decision of the Bioethics Committee for Scientific Research of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv).

A copy of the approval must be submitted together with the manuscript as a separate file (file type: “Research Materials”).

Requirements for Authors

Authors are required to:

• obtain prior ethical approval from an appropriate authorized body (ethics committee, bioethics commission, institutional review board, etc.), where required by law;
• indicate in the manuscript or in a separate section (Ethics Statement) information about such approval, including the name of the body, date, and protocol number (if applicable);
• confirm that informed consent has been obtained from research participants;
• ensure anonymity and confidentiality of personal data.

If the research does not fall under mandatory ethical approval requirements, authors must provide a justified explanation.

Editorial Rights

The editorial board reserves the right to withdraw a manuscript from consideration or reject it if the author fails to provide the required approvals or if violations of ethical standards are identified. Responsibility for the authenticity of approvals and compliance of the research with legal requirements rests solely with the authors.
